A question about art.

You know. ART.

A moody, black and white shot of an attractive nude woman. Art?

A close-up shot of a Z list celebrity's bum crack on the cover of the Daily Star. (Note for Americans and other aliens: it's a daily red top gutter rag that makes The Sun look like the London Review of Books.) Art?

A moody, black and white shot of an obese, hairy, nude male trucker. Art?

Art?

i find this work menacing/playful because of the way the disjunctive perturbation of the negative space contextualize the eloquence of these pieces.  it's difficult to enter into this work because of how the aura of the purity of line brings within the realm of discourse the inherent overspecificity.

Big alcoholic, and soso unix guy.  He was one of the good guys, not too biggoted but heh he was sure amusing when he got wasted at the hooker bar across the road from the call centre.

Art was a violent alcoholic, but he was also a pencil necked weakling

Good times!

the kids with things where it wasn't clear if it was art or a stunt. Not that stunts can be art. Like Darry Hanna's "brush, fire, brushfire" in Wall Street.

My favorite questionable art: Cloaca, a machine that digests food.

I think if it makes you think and talk to other people about it, it's art.

Yes. Next question please $ (none / 0) (#9)

"Real" "Art" by Peter Bagge, if you've never seen it. Reason Magazine occasionally published some good shit before it became just another Koch-sucking organ backing the Jesus Jesus Tax Breaks choir.

just wants to say that "Art" is simply a guy's name, and nothing more.

I need to move to London or somewhere like that, I fucking hate America.

Art is that which allows multiple interpretations. If you can't disagree over something, it must be mundane.

1. A moody, black and white shot of an attractive nude woman.

Not art unless you have prudes around.

2. A close-up shot of a Z list celebrity's bum crack on the cover of the Daily Star.

Not art because everybody expects this.

3. A moody, black and white shot of an obese, hairy, nude male trucker.

Many will try to find reasons why they like it more than the picture with the nude woman. The disagreement will be over who's lying. Hence good art.

4. Art?

Of course. Unless the play is boring.

Art surprises you, intrigues you, and makes you think about it afterward.  It inspires you to do something.

Life is art.

So are horsecocks.
