Jessica Alba in an interview with Para Todos magazine said that she doesn't want to be called Latina. and that she doesn't speak Spanish. She also made the racist comment of, "I've got cousins galore. Mexicans just spread all their seeds. And the women just pop them out." Being Latina (despite what she says) you would think that she would be supportive of her fellow Mexicans, but she is now rich and possibly part of the Neocon power structure in some way so she has adopted the Neocon's racist hatred against Mexicans.
Arnold Schwarzenegger said some similar things. When speaking to a gathering of Hispanic journalists, he said, "You've got to turn off the Spanish television set" and avoid Spanish-language television, books and newspapers."
Arnold Schwarzenegger said this was good because "You're just forced to speak English, and that just makes you learn the language faster." You would think that being an immigrant himself Arnold Schwarzenegger would have more sympathy for his fellow immigrants, but he has adopted the racist ideology of his Neocon compatriots.
All this promotion of the English language and how Spanish speaking immigrants need to stop speaking Spanish reminds me of how Newspeak was being forced on the population of Oceania in the book, 1984. Immigrants, particularly those from Latin America, have not been indoctrinated into Neocon ideology, and bring with a social democratic perspective with them. The Neocons want the immigrants to not be able to speak (or think) social democratic or other leftist thoughts so making them speak (and thus think) in English is how they are doing it just like Ingsoc was going to make it immposible for anyone to think about polticial freedom in 1984.
