I tried Argos who seem to have everything, as well as the supermarket which seemed like the more obvious place. I think my problem might be related to the fact that the only shops I know are Oxford St and my local shops. Where do normal people go shopping around London?
I still have no job, figured I'd wait till after the bank holiday before looking too hard. Doesn't really worry me, I'm sure I'll get something. My biggest worry is that I'm getting used to this sort of lifestyle and will have trouble adjusting to work.
There seems to be nothing in the IT job market here, tho the more I think about it the less that bothers me. I don't think I'm all that interested in IT anymore. I'd applied for a shitload of jobs, but it was more the cash than anything.
On Sunday I caught up with a girl that I used to have a major crush on. Was introduced to her boyfriend, who is a really nice guy. Normally I hate that sort of situation - if the guy is an asshole at least you can feel better about having the hots for his g/f. But the fact that they made such a nice couple somehow stopped me feeling anything for her beyond friendship.
Tho I guess the fact that her friend was really nice helped too.
I just discovered that this Internet cafe censors Disturbing Search Requests but doesn't censor goatse.cx
Yeah her friend. Not the sort of girl I would normally go for. We really don't have much in common at all - she works at an art gallery and plays piano and is into all artsy stuff. She's also one of those people who are anti-capitalism without being quite sure exactly what capitalism is. But we seemed to click somehow.
She gave me her phone number which is a good sign I guess, tho I really have no idea how we would go outside the group situation. Making things worse if the fact that with two weeks in London I'm hardly an expert on where to take a girl out to. I don't think she wants to see the backpacker pubs that I've been frequenting. Can you ask a girl out and ask her to choose the location of the date. Seems weird, especially for a first date - plus of course it goes against the guide.
